...Were unfortunately negative. It seemed policing the number of icreased visitors and bikes 'not fitting in' the forest style were the main concerns and caused the decline of the proposal (other reasons on homepage www.jab-ride.co.uk ).

Valid points or are they just the behind times?

Our we running out of biking friendly options for the South East?

Sound off your thoughts...

Just seem like excuses. The views of a minority I'm sure, that have the ear of those that matter.

It's their loss. They're going to look like idiots when everywhere else is welcoming cycling. The BBC even featured an FC-maintained mtb place in the Peak District on Countryfile last weekend! They're also going to loose a potential money maker. Perhaps they would like to build a massive wall around the place so people don't 'spoil' it.

So what can they do when they find you? What rights to do you/what authority do they have?

My feeling is to ride on the forest whatever but to be considerate and not cause anyone a problem. It's a big space and it's possible to do that.  In theory the forest is 'owned' by an organisation but really it's the outdoors and it's there for everyone.

If a ranger or whatever sees you on the forest what can they really do? We don't carry registration plates, we are not obliged to speak to them and as far as I know they can't 'arrest' you. All they can do is call the Police in which time you've moved on.
