For those who don't know, we are going to have another attempt at getting things rolling with the FC. This sub-forum has been dead for some time now so we really need to find out who is seriously up to support the cause. If we have a good response we may be able to get somewhere.
Who is still interested? _________________

Ben - there hasn't been a change of government since last time, the world economy has gone down the toilet, so there's no funding and the fundamental and inescapable fact still remains - they make so much money from the car park, fuelled by parents and kids that don't give a monkeys about 'freeride' that they simply have no reason to do anything even half-decent with the freeride area.
All the kids that trot along and say they are up for 'it' are sadly ill-equiped to deliver 'it' so your wasting your time. We all know that the FC want professionally designed plans, full H&S consideration, commercial and environmental impact studies and that's without them actually investing any real money in doing the work - we still get that pleasure.
If you want to build, get down the Bull Track and put your effort into a worthy cause. Don't waste your time with the idiots at the FC.
Just my opinion of course, but you can come back to this thread in 12 months time when your all utterly hacked off and you can read this last bit...
TOLD YOU SO |

i think we do need to do something. someone needs to point out to the FC that having a good FR section will improve their potential revinue as the number of potential riders increases. not sure who would be able to champion this move tho. _________________ |

The main problem is is the freeriders have always been in the minority. The singletrack has had a lot done to it because of the support for it in the club. I know where you're coming from rob I have been there from the start and headbutted through a few brick walls in that time but is a too good place to be ignored.
A start would be to get more mounds of earth to the dirt run and start upsizing some of the ramps there (this might help get attention from more freeriders and help support grow). Atm we just need more people to get started. _________________

Yeah just had an email in to say things are moving . Everyone was stretched over Autumn but now there's movement towards updating the timber stuff/ new DH runs!
Should upgrading the dirt run be prioritised? The're looking for ideas where to start so need everyone's input on this... _________________

They could start by not letting Saunters do the work.
If you read the minutes to their last 2 meetings (on their website and I simply cannot explain how I came to be reading them) you will see that all they have done is blame a lack of enthusiasm (bollocks) and enlist the help of that well-known trail builder (oops ground contractor) Saunters.
For the uninitiated, Saunters threw the single track in and were responsible for the worst bits of the freeride area, although its hard to tell whether the north shore put up by Mike T was worse than the small stuff, its a close thing.
Any 'ideas' and 'input' will be implemented by someone with absolutely no idea about trail building. he wouldn't know a decent freeride area if it ran up and bit him on the arse - seriously.
The FC are looking for 'organic development', using the club members to guide and build the freeride area, which is impossible as you are simply not allowed to get on with it, due to all the red tape.
Sorry Ben, you probably dont want all this negative opinion on your website - its the truth though. |

Thanks Rob
You have probably scared evereyone off.
Hopefully we won't be getting type 1 surface in for the downhill run though! Something simple like a few more sizable jumps and a tidier dirt run would be a good start.
