well we went riding the singletrack today, and while the begining section was as good as always the latter sections were sort of ruined by the shear amount of mud making half of it unrideable.
but there was one section that had a raised piece of woodwork which was good considering all around was mud, personally i think thats a good plan for some of it but you can't really do that over all the singletrack. but something does need doing for drainage to improve winter/spring/wet weather riding experiance.

in total agreement with you there oli; twas damn annoying that ride at certain bits!!!
eugh the damn mud just forced us to walk round some of it...or end up like you in that puddle...up to your rotors.... lol
they had some more wood at the end didn't they so maybe just doign it over the problem areas would solve it lol.
also some of the access to certain areas on the track are just basically impossible such as the reallly step bit...bout...3\4 of the way round i think...you probably know the one i mean!
drainage would be a dream... lol |

You have every right to moan. It does really mess up the singletack experience. There was some negative press in a national mag about the singltrack condition so work is slowly being done. There are regular club workparties out there on saturdays, but think the attendance isn't that great atm.
Was it mainly the valleys where the problem lay or was it just bad track drainage overall? _________________

Hi all,
I have to say, what a load of wooses!
If you don't like it why don't some of you lot help on the working parties, and anyway I'm a 41 year old woman who can do every single singletrack climb (dab free) and LOVE the mud and always have a laugh if I do fall off, get your "mud" head on and just enjoy it, you will appreciate the drier condtions more when it starts to dry out.
Remember you are off road if you want perfect condtions without any mud there's a big strip of it in between footpaths on most streets!

Well you're totally right about that part.
My 'Mud head' is fine but if you're walking half of it because there seriously is no way you can ride through those bogs, then it's not riding. If I wanted to be a walker I'd go the the ashdown forest where they love the walkers.
That parking fee is damn steep and you kind of expect some maintenance for that. I'm sure the Bedge would rather know if they're losing customer due to lack of usability. |

Yeah the single track is in poor condition due to drainage in certain places, but you can easily get round it. I've ridden the single track all winter and whilst it can be frustrating in places, the good bits more than make up for it..........especially now its drying out!! I am more than happy to get involved in some of the working parties over the summer, as would love to see a few more raised platformed areas.
