Personally I have in more recent times avoided both. Has anyone tried powerbars? I'm not normally one for spending on fancy non-necessities but got a load of these once whilest working at the shop and they seemed to do well.

Energy drinks only give you a short burst heh? As for coffee, I heard somewhere that you should drink it about 20mins before a ride and it'll boost your day.

Interesting. I have found with energy drinks the same; one mental burst of energy and thats it. I have heard for coffee that it peaks you for a while and then leaves you worse off after (for keeping awake while driving anyway). Not as drastic as red bull though!

I wise man once told me that powerbars and yucky energy sap just kill your power levels as all your blood goes to your stomach to digest it all and zaps your power levels ... so completely not what it says on the tin

Surely the producers of those products would have tested them for effectiveness before they hit the shelves?
