Winter riding plan?I think the weather has said a lot today of what we're in for for the next few months.
Has anyone any riding plans for this winter yet?

Get some freaking winter tyres lol.
Minions mean i will die in the next few months.
Anyway.
Yeah sort of i want to ask the council about the corner of a field where i might be able to set up some DJ's but if that happens ill be a very lucky bunny.
Have got permission to build in a field near my mates house though which is private but a bit of a ride away. No further than PORC from where i live in north tonbridge really and might be able to have a weekend building and staying over my mates so might take the field owners up on that one.
Other than that no plans =[

I used to ride BMX and I've just purchased a new one for riding street and skate parks over the winter. It might just be an early on-set of a midlife crisis, but theres a new flood-lit skate park opened in Sevenoaks(where I work), Crawley skate park is flood-lit and new ones are being built all the time. It only takes a dry day to be able to ride in the evening! Was thinking of geting something like a Giant STP but I got a deal I couldn't refuse on a Kink ROC, and I've secretly yearned for another BMX for some time.
Am I now banned from the forum? hehe.

I'm up for some evening 'urban freeriding' (I hate it when people call things 'urban' but I've gone and done it myself now) in TWells town.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Who wants to plan a day and time? Perhaps the Thursday evening slot as in the summer time would be appropriate. It's have to be after the 8th Nov for me as the bike's being repaired.

Was just on a bus from back Brighton through TWs yesterday and i was thinking Urban Freeride there and there and there at all these different spots.
Im up for it.
Oh and Brighton looks amazing for urban freeride too anyway. Huge stair sets and down by the beach theres these curved low walls out the floor that have small pieces of wood nailed to them obviously to stop skaters and BMXers but a mtb would soak them up nice and they look so fun to ride. Theres also huge walkways and little ramps and stuff all along the sea front. Would love to do a day of urban freeride in Brighton one day.
Found out all these spots recovering from the night before. Fun times xD

Lemmy loves a bit of URBAN freeride!
Sevenoaks Skate park opened Thursday 30th October and is one of the best obstacle parks I've seen to date and theres a 6 foot high, 20 foot wide mini ramp with 1/4 pipe hips off both platforms.
Planning a thursday (6th Oct) evening session if anyones around.
Find it at - Sevenoaks Skatepark, Greatness Park, Mill Lane, Sevenoaks - park up and go around the football club house.

What's the best light for night riding?
I formally retract the use of the term 'Urban freeride' and will never say it again.

the best lights? how much dollar you got? mine were £200 and they were 2nd hand
basicly the more you have, the better the light
but
Hope do a decent light for about £125 make sure you get lights with a burn time of at least 2 hours
night light are cheap in my mind they open up a whole new season for you, its possible to ride right through the winter evenings and even a simple track becomes tricky in the dark.

Sevenoaks sounds good. Love floodlit stuff! Put up some pics if you get em heffs.
Am also after a set of lights but don't want to spend more than £30 really
Are there any good spots in TW? Brighton is notorious for its street stuff. Haven't ridden concrete for ages though...

There was a suggestion of Friday instead of Thursday. Looks like it's going to be drier on Thursday now. How about Thursday?
Rob, I presume Gnar is a derivitive of Gnarly? Where can I learn more of this hip jive talk?
The night riding light is going on the christmas list.

No can do. Had to use up my pass for riding Sat AM with Lem.

I really meant to have a ride tonight.. I left work an hour early on a fudged excuse to sort some personal admin so I could pick up my bike. 45 mins into what's usually a half hour journey I realised I wasn't going to get to the shop before it shut, so turned around for the alternative option of booze in the bath.
I tried, but some rides just aren't meant to be.
Pires and I have rescheduled for the 'R' place on Saturday morning.

Going to tws tomorrow with dobby to wack in a bit of street to my riding. may head up to wellington rocks too for a bit of a drop/jump/rock sesh.

In Maidstone for the day tomorrow. Anyone go out today? Was going to head out to 'R' but weather wasn't all that (again).

After today I realised I may want to consider some winter tyres as I had to go fix a bike and my tyres on my flow had not much grip.
Any suggestions for tyres? For freeride and jump use.
A mate reccomended continental vertical tyres, they any good?

Maxxis SwampThings! The only tyre you'll need! Bought some for last winter, rode them all year, swapped them round, and I'll do the same this winter!

Pires and I rode the 'R' place in the rain yesterday. It went very well considering the conditions. I still have yet to banish all the mud that came home with me.
I had my new Halo Choir Boy tyres on. They seemed to work pretty well in full on wetness and are affordable at £17 a piece from a well known online store.

I'd definitely go there in the rain again, especially with the addition of waterproof trousers. We were there nearly three hours. There were four other riders as well plus the Guvnor who was doing some maintenance.

For the Flow they may be a bit slowgoing espec for DJ. Continentals don't look bad either: http://www.mtbr.com/cat/tires-and...rtical-pro/PRD_353266_151crx.aspx

Cheers for that. Maxxis High rollers, Would they be alright for the flow as winter tyres?

High rollers are the 2nd best all round tyre fairly good in allmost all conditions IMO

You cant go to far wrong with any of the maxxis tyres , they all perform fairly well , but i think swampthings might be better in these wet conditions .

Has the tire good clearance from the frame/forks? They will be wider than the holy rollers.
