Winter motivation

What makes you get up and ride? Often find it difficult when it's dark and freezing to get motivated and in the mood. Any tips?

madness...
Heffers

or if its properly snowed its just fun  Very Happy  ...proper snow that is.

Oh it seems most people suffer from that then  Laughing  Other prob i find when riding in the winter is having to clean the bike when you get back! Really want to keep riding up the the lazy side is winning at the mo unfortunately.

Would love some propper sonw to rip in though.

I get something from riding in all conditions, apart from when its tipping it down, icy roots and wet sections of trail get you more in touch with how your bike handlles and keep you off the brakes.

Well a bit anyway   Very Happy

Good point. Guess it would make you faster for when its drier as well. Ever riden Friston in the winter? Algae covered chalk: a over t x100 Laughing

Yeah true, but that's afterwards tho. It's getting the motivation to actually do it in the 1st place that is the problem!

Don't worry about it; i haven't cleaned my Stinky since i was inthe alps in summer!!
D

yeh well the bieks okay its just the fork's travel has started to decrease n mucks up when i put air in; and actually had oilcoming out when i adjusted them earlier...so thats what i need to look at most of all

I haven't cleaned my rig since the summer either. Back then had to use a power hose to clean it as well. Makes me cringe to think about it!

Some decent trails locally would probably help get me back out riding as well. Was muddy in the summer but the trails where we were were excellent.

Can someone tell me how we're meant to keep motivated when this is your 5 day forecast?

JAW

Looks more like a british 365 day forecast to me!

Yeah it's ok if you're out there and it starts raining it's just getting yourself to go out when it's already pouring which i find the problem.
D

in total agreement with you there JAW!

befor xmas i went to wisley for the first time, and it was the worst ride i ever been on..... partly because i got lost, and it was pissing down all day, and it was almost imposibly to ride anything....just sliding all over the place. and got complelty caked in mud.

i knew it was gonna be a crap ride but i still wanted to ride because i luv riding, didnt really need much motivation.

i didnt clean my bike till the following weekend.

I hate those sort of days! It's when you wonder why you ride...
