I can't ride with tunes on as it puts me right off. It's fine snowboarding but with bikes its somehow different.
Having said that I've almost always got a tune in my head when I'm riding - helps with the rhythm.

Ditto. Like to have ACDC (thunderstruck) in the subconcious whilest riding. Always helps
Vanderhams seg in NWD5 is where I heard that first. Soothing stuff.

It's wierd sometimes I can ride with tunes on and other times it feels odd as I can't concentrate. I'll listen to anything from Metallica's Kill em All, Jonny Cash to RJD2 and bib beat stuff.

Reckon a lot of its to do with when you're riding. Often an evening has got to be more mellow stuff but weekend harder...
As for top 5:
ACDC: Thunderstruck.
Buckcherry: out of line.
Sweatshop union: The thing about it.
Foo fighters: Breakout.
Jurassic 5: Back 4 U.

Always considered Metallica too heavy but liked their tune on Gituar hero 3

metallica etc is a bit heavy , Apollo 440 , queen , billy idol should hit the spot when riding hard .

Thanks to this thread i tried riding with music for the first time the other day but only whilst doing some XC on the common. I did find that music really helps on the uphills as you can take your mind off the struggle!
Anyhow, as outty mentioned ooh ahh by the grits - possibly my favourite ever tune.
I find that 'stoking' music varies - from mellow hip-hop like sweatshop union, swollen members through to stuff like AC/DC, rise against, lost prophets and rage against the machine (possilby the most stoking!). If i watch a segment of a bike dvd before i ride, i usually have the song from it in my head whilst riding.

-Red Flag - Billy Talent

but thats just 5 of 268 songs that all get me pumped:) lol!
