The wierd and the wonderful...

Looks like the Dr Frankenstein's of the bike world have been busy again. Check out these two i came
accross: http://delta7sports.com/products.html

http://dev.nsmb.com/page/s/2501/watson-bikes

Do these sort of bikes float anyone's boat?  Confused

This one looks like my Nan's been busy with the knitting neddles again! £5 says it'll never catch on!

As for the other one, someone needs a slap!
JAW

Good grief, that watson bike is ugly. I wouldn't be seen on one of those if i was given it for free!
Pires

I'm all for pushing design, but....... really! The first looks like a mecano set.

The 2nd.... Sam Hill?......09 bike?.... What a pile of turd!

There seem to be some pretty mad 29" wheel rigid fork bikes floating around at the moment.......
and what is that single fork leg Cannondale about....... wrong wrong wrong
D

eugh! to both!

forget a slap! just lock em away in a cave somewhere and leave em!
Heffers

both shouldn't really have got past the drawing board...unless they were to cover the crazy bits on the first one so it at least looked normal.

as the for the singles legged Cannondale fork (Lefty) it is actually a reputidly good fork and has even been used by Garcia for DH/4X before so there must be some strength there (he won 4X on it once or twice i think as well)

............................But it just doesn't look righjt or safe!

I would love to have the watson bike imagen riding that down a hill and being quicker than your buddy
elementry dear watson

as for the knited frame that would just fill with mud
rider101

True, they both look just wrong. Theres a charm in importing a unique bike from another country but wound't be seen dead on something THAT unique.

Something to do with Sam Hill on that? Please no. I think Iron horse is just fine...
OutlanderSE

i hate lefty's they are ugly and in my eyes undesirably
JAW

I suppose it's the only dual crown fork that you can properly x-up with! It must be really odd to ride one...
Ben03

I liked the way all the good points are listed to convince that this really is a bike of the future. I might not buy a bike in the future if that's the case.

The lefty is kind of good in that you don't need to worry about two springs synchronising etc but seems like the Citroen sinking suspension idea - odd now and will look very silly in a few years time.

I wonder how long those hubs last as well.
Ben03

On a similar line of thought, I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on (the late) Honda G-Cross?
OutlanderSE

it interested me in the technology side but not very good in looks in my opinion
Ben03

Must admit myself I was worried about it catching to other companies. It looked ok but as long as it stayed a one-off. It looked too moto imo and although the gear system was good i prefer it if bikes stay simple in a way!
JAW

The thing i liked best was the amount of hype that it all generated. I think it did a world of good for the media and general bikers as well as creating outside interest. It was good for the sport IMO!
Pires

What do you guys reckon on this...... I kind like it. Pushing design and functionality:

Hmm not sure about the forks but i do like the way everything is clearly explained. Justifies why it looks the way it does!
Ben03

An interesting find Pires! Looks like something slightly more acceptable than the other stuff whilest keeping things fresh. As for new stuff am currently slobbering over the trek session 88  Cool

I used to love the look of the lefty's.. i lusted after the original chase1 with lefty's.... i still think its a good idea. You can crap in a lot of clover valving...

I remember seeing a review of that Jones bike in singletrack i think... they're very popular in america, the guy who makes them has huge waiting lists...
I like the idea of using metal in clever ways to get the best ride out of it... like, a titanium bike with a nice flex is going to last a lot better than a full-sus with all its complex pivots and shocks...
I don't think i'd ride one of those unless i had a mustache though....

I always like to check out poshbikes.com.. they've always got weird but amazing things... 'titanium alluminium carbonitrided cassette' carbon fibre chainrings and 47gram saddles... love it..

All for less pivots but titanium flex! Sounds scary  Shocked
Pires

But don't you think it looks kinda cool?!! Its refreshing to see a different approach to rigid/suspension forks. Agree you need to be wearing a full tash and gringo beard to get away with riding a Jones bike!!
Ben03

Looks like something Whyte would come up with (maybe thats cos the forks remind me of something they did). Is very clever stuff. For some reason flexing metal does unnerve me too though!

Am all for less pivots etc as it makes a bike a whole lot easier to wash as well  Wink
Shadow

anyone seen pod today heh heh http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/2251336/
Pires

One word "WRONG!"
JAW

What a beast! Can't be too cheap... double the e13, double the rear shock double the pedals etc... and what a paint job!
kona crasher

I would like to see two nutters jump the big gap at the bull track on it  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

I hear Lems the resident stunt man now. Confused
