Santa Cruz demo day

Theres a Santa Cruz demo day coming up on the 3rd of June at rotherfield trails, don't know too much details about it heard about it from Will at wildside. Should get to test some bikes properly unlike at bedgebury.
Heffers

yeh i hear bout that...might piop in tomoro after my exam a have a speaky to the guys, gota ask them bout a new brake anyhows.
Ben03

Yeah interesting choice of location. Wasn't sure how low key this was meant to be. Aparently they've got some 'demo' tracks sorted or something. Should be good.

Did you go to the Bedgebury demo day then?
JAW

Yes would like to go to this. I wouldn't go shouting about it though cos i think it was meant to be fairly 'secret' (for want of a better word)
abruce

I wouldn't call it secret... they've been advertising it in magazines and on their site...

Wouldn't mind trying out a few of the santa cruz's (superlight yes please) but don't know if i can be bothered with booking them out etc...

(Heffs, you me and Jim should make a trip of it blatently)

I went to the bedgebury demo day... thaught it was alright (as long as you were after the XC bikes) but having just 30min test-rides was kinda pointless as you can only ride up the road in 30mins at bedge...
Ben03

Yeah not sure which models are available for testing there. It just seemed a little funny as Hornhurst has kept a low profile for so long and now have blown the cover.

I guess it's good if they're looking to get more members etc.

Yeah as for Bedgers, there wasn't an ideal set-up with the time slots...
simon

I heard the club wants more members ( just joined myself ) so that they can expand their area more as they currently have to pay to rent out the existing spot
Heffers

well i had a work with Will and you have to call up wildside to book out a bike, so its all working through reservations. i belive he said you can e-mail too but phoning would be better recomended.

there were a few nice bikes at the Besdgebury demo...but true there wasn't enough time, and the only bike i really wanted to ride was just for display Sad
Ben03

Still thinking about joining (said I would often enough) but it would be more to support the cause than anything else cos I hardly ride there. Want to more this year though as the stuff's great fun.

Would be cool to see more stuff developing down that way.
Ben03

Just been notified that the places have been filled now and there are only a few slots for the Bullit remaining. Call Wildside cycles on 01892 527069 for more info!

Yeah that's what i'd be doing (if i could afford a hard tail! Evil or Very Mad )
Heffers

hardtails don't cost too much. my Flow cost £600 and thaty includes an upgrade to Hope 4pots. and there are cheaper HT's around that are just as good.
JAW

yeah i know but i'm still in debt for my stinky! got £170 left to pay and am thinking of upgrading the forks at some point...
Heffers

i see...i still haven't payed back for buying the frame for the Norco...should probably get in to doing that.
Ben03

Currently finding it wierd having to switch between the two bikes (full suss and ht). Was first going to build a 'one bike does all' but just though it'd be easier to have two bikes.

Hadn't ridden an ht for about 8 years....
Heffers

opposite for me....i find it weird every time io get on a full sus, i suppose that will start going away when i finish the Norco.
Ben03

Now the full susser seems wierd to ride which is a bit worrying. Didn't take too long to get used to the STP but it's the switching back that I'm finding hard.

Ht is soo nice and flicky though, reckon I'll be riding it alot this summer Very Happy Haven't tried any propper dirt jumps with it yet though.
abruce

Don't think i could ever ride a HT and full-sus simultaniously... they're so different... totally different ways of riding and technique...Took me a good month to get used to riding full-sus for the first time
(infact i don't know if i'd ever want to ride a HT again now).. which is annoying, as i'd like to sell my Patriot and then build up a proper fun bike, like a le toy or something... but i don't reckon i could ride HT now, and then i don't reckon i could afford to build up another full-sus!
