Few Local Trails For YouRight, here's a few local spots to ride. Anymore you have, please join in as I could do with a few more.
Been riding Hargate wood again recently and thats got some nice fast sections of singletrack in it. It's off Broadwater Down and runs parallel to Strawberry Hill (the road out to Crowborough). If you go a bit futher there are some nice trails at Eridge and a few rock drops too.
Current favourite is Pembury, from the Texaco petrol station the trail runs parallel to the main road out to Maidstone. Its fast and there are several options. There's plenty of quiet areas if you want to build some stuff too. When you get to the bottom you cross the road via the flyover, go down the road opposite and clibm the long road which comes out at the Shell garage on the A21. Go past it and take the next right for about 200 yards, then duck into the woods on the right and you've got about 6 minutes of fast downhill singletrack. It starts off woody, then crosses the road you climbed to get there, then goes into a small road to the finish. If you then keep going North you will come to a quarry area with a few jumps and hits (back of the Pembury hospital). There are a few lines and bits to play on in there and once your done you can go right to the back near the hospital grounds, turn round and then blast it for about another 3 minutes of flowy singletrack. Sandy at the top and boggy at the bottom, fastest in the summer, lots of hucks and bits off to the side and it brings you out at the fly over. If you still have any energy left the climb back to the petrol station is actually quite dooable.
Dirt jumps in the woods out the back of The Hare in Langton, but take a small bike as they are BMX jumps really. Local kids have built them and they are nice.
Plenty of bits in the Common if you know where to look and there's always the drop in and lip by the bench near Thackery's.
There's plenty about but you need to go when no one is about and there's a fair amount of pedalling in between so light bikes are best, which is a shame as mine is'nt!
Happy hunting chaps.

Heard some really, really, really sketchy stories about doggers in the woods out behind Pembury!! Fellas in dresses and wwII gas masks!!.... and al sorts of wierd sh*te
Given what I've just written I suppose there is plenty of parking, as riding there could be a pain in the ass on my bike.

Info overload! This is exactly what we need Good to have you on board Robbo
Have heard that the ramps in Langton got trashed recently (Very unusual...) Think the kids got too ambitious or something.
Is the quarry in Pembury a good spot for building hips/gaps etc?
Am kind of freaked out now Pires. Sounds like psycho country or something!

This is exactly what I need to hear, I've been wondering about that area around Pembury while driving past on the A1. I live in the Sandhill Rd Sherwood area so that route is really near to me.
Has anyone tried the little circuit in the Rusthall woods? It' ok if you live nearby and have an hour free after work. You can start on the unmade road that is Bishops Down Park Rd down from Mt. Ephraim then down into a muddy track leading to the woods. There's an annoying gate and fence to cross then continue further up the track and take the first junction to the right, up to the top, right again 2 mins of singletrack, some roots a steep downhill with stairs at the top (pass the annoying gate again) down to a stream , cross bridge, up a bit down a bit, short steep hill, down a bit, left turn. This ends up making a kind of pretzel shape circuit where you finnish back at the gate. The actual woods part is only about 20 min worth of riding but its a laugh. Beware of dog walkers. Don't bother with this unless you are desperate/bored, go somewhere bigger.

Who else is up for going round Pembury? (not for the dogging)
Hopefully going to Leith Hill tommorrow, but sometime soon, maybe the 10th or 11th?

I've never seen any weird stuff going on while I've been up at Pembury but then I'm not hanging about either
Happy to arrange a ride and show everyone the goods.
Think I've done the Rusthall loop a few times. Also hit the rocks in the clearing near toad rock and I think there are a few dirt jumps there too. Saying that, last time I went there were some real skallies on mini-bikes, who told us to f..k off.
The woods out towards Ramslye are also good for a huck.
Ben - the site out the back of the Hospital has been used by kids for years, BMX for sure and there are some much larger tracks up there too, probably motorised. If you had a spade you could build some nice hips (I know how much you love hips Ben) and bits. On the run down from here back to the road, somene's built a pretty decent looking gap jump, sketchy run in and about 15 + foot gap!

Going to hit up Pembury tomorrow morning, early.
Few of us usually go out for a spin Sunday night if anyone wants to join. Mid-week is starting to look possible now as its so much lighter and getting warmer.

There's the bomb hole at the begining of Barnetts wood on Blackthorn av by the roundabout which is worth a look.

Just checked it on Google, I've heard the jumps are pretty big and, as you say, designed for BMX.
Having ridden BMX for many years I know most of those spots more than MTB one's. There are actually a few decent jump spots, skateparks and small tracks to play on around TW. Always fun riding street on a Patriot

yeah. on the edge between high brooms and southborough. but anything new you do there unless reasonably well built gets trash by chavs...and theres flaming holes dotted around which are hidden under the leaves -.-

There's a nice little man-made downhill track as well with rick garden and all.
Robbo is the Ramslye spot like a deep bombhole? May have been there yeeaars ago. (And yes you know it about the hip thing )
Maybe we should try organise a ride sometime soon via a thread in local happenings & events? Would be good to hit some of this stuff.
