Bike fitness...Hi,
Just wondering what people did for their general biking fitness? (Could do wih some tips). How seriously do (should) you take it?
Have seen some gadgets around like this http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Captains-Of-Crush-2008.html but was wondering what sort of things people have found to work well?

jake snake is right. just keep riding. do a few sprints here and there and you'll be fine. powerball is only necessary if you are in france (les gets/morzine) or if you grip your handlebars/brakes too much!!!

An interesting thought! It depends how seriously you take the sport whether you treat it as actual sport or just something for leisure.
My workout is trail building! Don't need a gym if you build trails
However I don't think you'll benifit that much from just riding. You do need other excersises to stay in good shape like situps etc (also just digging makes you a hunchback apparently...)
I do like the look of that tool on pinkbike as was suffering serious hand cramp 1st 2 days in he Alps.
Banana is the power food jake-snake

I'm just going to second the Powerball. It's not just about the grip on the brakes and bars, but on longer decents it really makes a difference, Highspeed vibrations arn't such an issue after a couple of months using a powerball.

Yes, - it can make the difference between enjoying a run and hanging on down a hill.

Powerballs are ok , but a better method of training is to get a short piece of broomstick or similar attach a length of rope/string then put a weight on the end , then twist the wood to raise the weight and that works well , this is from my motocross riding days .
Riding helps as well but you need to be pushing yourself to make your muscles work for it to do any good and increase your fitness , a gentle ride around bedgebury won't help .
