A2 DT Project - FR/DH Frame.hey all,
the other day in a physics test i day dreamed off and drew up a little frame design on the paper, i really liked it so i kept it and started tot draw it up in CAD [Rhinoceros 3D Design]. Then me DT teacher saw it and said i could do it as my A2 project! i was so excited lol, anyways i still am, and im just finishing the designs, but ill need a lot of help and advice to complete the frame successfully, so im asking everywhere i can lol. im hoping [big hope] to make it out of carbon fibre, but if that proves too difficult it'll be steel or an alloy [titanium is too expensive]. anyway this is the design concept and the 3D design so far. it has a floating shock, much the same concept as the new Evil Revolt frame with its patented DW link [i think its DW], where by both ends of the compress at the same time instead of just one end being compressed. need feedback and suggestions! be harsh and fact-ful xD thanks.

That looks fairly immense! Careful PB is prime place for idea/image filching

Rad design there. a lot to consider in designing a bike. Scares me a bit!

I really couldn't give you any advice on that! Been riding for a long time, but never really attempted to get into/understand much about geometry/spring ratio's etc...
The designs do look stunning though! If it's a success, would you consider starting a bike company?

hey guys sorry, the blue note thing has stopped working for me so i dont know when new posts happen lol. but yes it is a LOT to consider, im working with someone in the states over pinkbike and he is helping me to finalise the deisgn to give 8" travel and some good shock ratios =)

Looks rad
if you get to build it up do it in steel it easy to re-weld, fabricate ect

would do it in steel, but i have never welded anything in my life lol. my idea for fabrication is to make it in a hard foam, then wrap and glue the carbon fibre weave around that mould. i wont need to remove the foam, because it weighs next to nothing.

finally decided just to do a street/dj/4x hardtail and maybe save that desgin for my uni project =).

Yeah I should think that a hardtail would be somewhat easier than an 8" DH bike!

After deciding on the hardtail option, i got busy designing a 1:1 base frame that i could design in conjunction with and build on. heres the nearly finished piece, just a few things to finalise, but basically, if i popped this into a CAM prototyper, in steel alloy, i could pop some parts on it and ride! pretty cool huh =D.

anyways just wanted some feedback/ suggestions, so please comment! =)
