A sucker to marketing?

Does advertising work on you? Do reviews or adverts have a bigger impact on what you buy?

Was interested to se what made people tick  Wink

i like to think that it doesnt but it probably does

Adverts may sow the initial seed when it comes to a product, but I always back it up with plenty of fact finding and plenty of varied opinion..........................

Are we fashion victims in mtb?  Wink

I do research into buying things but yeh biking can be very fashion driven.

Yes we are suckers. At least i reckon we are... I wonder how many people now own an iron horse sunday since sam hill started owning on them? I think adverts work for me if the products look juicy enough. However, often upon looking at the price tag i decide not to buy them.

I also wonder how many people have started buying hardtails since Dirt's hardtail obsession.

i duno...i'd like to think that i'm not too advertising driven, but then my views might be deriven by advertising. basically i have strong brand loyalty...basically always use the same brands because i know they work and i like them and stuff.
Ben03

Think brand loyalty is good heff. I'm a bit like that as well and tend to stick to a few.

You do get the impression we are like sheep with marketing like JAW said about iron horse. Will flat pedals become more popular again with DH'ers as well? Similarily troy lee lids are for racers etc.
Pires

It's human nature! We are all driven by marketing and advertising.........
