Can anyone shed any light (pardon the pun) on what sort of price range I'm looking at for getting a seperate flashgun for a Pentax ist dl? Also where's the best (cheapest) place to shop for these sort of things?

Pentax have never really done the whole dedicated-flash thing like Canon+Nikon, thus yo are basically looking at ANY flash with a manual setting....
My mate who does bmx photography uses Vivitar flahes (a Vivitar 285HV) cause its powerful with an auto setting and easy manual settings and it has a zoom head (found one for £80 here: http://www.speedgraphic.co.uk/prod.asp?i=9984&1=Vivitar+285HV)
He has a few of them and mounts them on tripods and ues pocket-wizards to set them off wirelessly, all at the same time.
only warning is that old flashes are triggered by up to 200v; this will fry your camera... new flashes like the 285hv, or nikon sb's or canon ex's or metz use under 6v, so won't kill your little digital.
have fun. _________________ A.BRUCE PHOTOGRAPHY |
