|

Been wondering this one for a while. Do the 'new school' freeriders lack what the vets have in terms of bike handling skill. A lot today appears to be about big balls and flinging tricks, as opposed to flow and skill. Has real mountainbiking been lost through the introduction of slopestyle?

slpoestyle is a mesh of street,dj and bmx in my opinion.
they should build sloestyle courses on steep terrain in the treess with rocks etc too |

Yeah i agree there. Riders like the Lacondeguys are in the spotlight at the mo for the trick etc. Basically a background in BMX and you're a hero and sponsership will be all over you. _________________

It may well happen. Look how long it took them to realise that those sort of elements are needed for 4X. They only just did it this year, so maybe in the next couple of years they'll add some more techy stuff to slopestyle. Hopefully. _________________

thats what it is. its a change in times.
it happens to every sport as it grows up. The bikes become "better" and the riders want to test them i news ways. but basicly it easier to sponser a slopestyle rider than an old school hucker.
think about how many people could go watch the red bull rampage...and then how many can go watch a slopestyle event like Crankworks. so what sort of rider would you sponser? _________________ |

Rampage was out in the sticks whereas Crankworx is in at a huge resort. The 04 Rampage had problems with crowds i seem to recall. The trouble is is slopestyle seems to have hit a dead end as far as progression has gone. It does need a change again.
