Thought it might be an idea to post new/known viruses and scams in a thread......
Parcel delivery failiure:
Not a joke.
This scam was also highlighted in the newspaper's recently.
Been advised to circulate this one around and It has been confirmed by Royal Mail.
The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call.
If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at www.icstis.org.uk or 08005002120 or your local trading standards

|

Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD,' regardless of who sent it to you. It
is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it. If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept. _________________

A similar email virus with the title 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK' is going round atm and is said to be a real problem. Keep an eye out for it _________________
