What are the experiences people have had with different types of wood for shore construction?
Personal experiences have concluded gravel board is a good anti-slip option...

Update: Need some advice as to how to treat the green caused by overhanging trees!

Any ideas?

we've found no way of stopping any tainting of our wood...we just brush the whole thing over when we get there. stuill seams to get slightly miss coloured.

Hi,
If you are using forest wood ,strip the bark off it ,it stops it rotting so quick.
You can treat all wood with creasote, this will protect it ,then we use a mixture of pva glue and sand,
paint this on to the wood with an artex scraper ,and this forms a layer simillar to grip tape used on skate boards,
Rideable in all weather.
Hope this helps. Very Happy

Very helpful buddy! Welcome along btw  Cool

Is that pic of your local stuff? Looks really neat. Do you completely bath the wood in creasote or just the riding surface?

Didn't manage to treat the stuff built locally before this winter. Big mistake. Am on to a nice big job this spring now.

Hi ,
the shore in the photo is not treated im still building this trail and to date the pva mix has worked fine.
When using creasote just put it in a sprayer and spray the lot.
For the pva mix, just clean off the bark if using forest wood and wack it on there.
This trail is local to me ,if you are in the area give me a shout and i will show you where it is.
