Got any tips to get the best out of this type of riding?
This is a thread for exchanging various riding techniques.....
Example: Picking a line when in a corner and sticking with it. Leave the brakes throughout the turn! Braking is for entering and exiting only!

downhill is mostly about having the best lines and making them link together well, in corners the best way is to enter wide and have a late apex, you can look further through before you commit to a line. you gotta try to be light in rock gardens but if you go fast enough you kinda automatically skip across so it seems less bumpy! the further ahead you look the faster you will go! _________________ just ride |

My chain went ping after an hour at the R on Sunday. Instead of going home I decided to pump everything.
It really helped my riding and rather than lazily cruising everything, I had to work, work, work. HAd to really pick the bike up over the jumps and it definately felt alot faster as you don't want to use your brakes and scrub speed.
Give it a blast! |

Good thought there. It puts a whole different spin on riding chainless and uses different muscles etc _________________

was at PORC camoing last weekend, and i came home with shoulders twice as big as before, and arms that i couldnt move above my head, because of the ache. 4x is pump mania, really hard work, but great fun and you deffo get loadsa speed, manualing pumps is smooth and fun too =) _________________ Let's go Man! |

I had that at my first year in the alps - rode a few of the courses chainless and also found it surprisingly fun! Especially good at teaching you to stay off the brakes, as you suffer if you don't...
